Scramaseax, which means ‘knife for wounds' in Latin, was characteristic of the Germanic peoples, especially the Saxons, during the 8th–11th centuries. The SCRAMASEAX tactical knife from Blade Brothers Knives is both a highly effective self-defense weapon and a versatile cutting tool. We produce it from 5 mm thick 1.4116 stainless steel (hardened to 57 HRC), providing excellent cutting performance. Its fixed blade and full tang construction ensure maximum reliability. The handle features textured ABS plastic scales for enhanced durability. Also the knife comes complete with a nylon sheath featuring a MOLLE system for secure carry.

History of the Scramaseax Knife

The SCRAMASEAX tactical knife is a practical tool with deep historical roots. Moreover, it is a natural fit in our line of historical knives and embodies the warrior spirit, a willingness to actively defend one's interests, and pure functionality.

When developing this modern version of the scramaseax, we aimed to preserve the authenticity of its shape while ensuring it still aligns with the definition of "a knife for wounds."

We based our design on a historical saex found in Sittinbourne, Kent, England. Obviously, it belongs to the type of saex (knife) called "broken back" and is characterized by a straight cutting edge and a sharply angled spine.

Additional Options

A separate plastic sheath is available for the Scramaseax knife and can be ordered additionally. It features a steel clip compatible with MOLLE, Tek Lok, and other mounting systems. Also this allows for horizontal carry, secure attachment to gear, belts, or equipment, and quick access in any conditions.

Full tang fixed blade
The solid metal construction of the knife with a fixed blade provides strength and power. The knife is made of 1.4116 stainless steel with a thickness of 5 mm, which is hardened to 57 HRC. With such characteristics of the steel, the cutting edge of the knife stays sharp for a long time, and it can be sharpened by hand without the use of a special tool.
Straight bevels
When striking with such a knife, such bevels guarantee excellent cutting properties, and the knife penetrates almost entirely into the material without meeting any resistance.
Characteristic scramasax blade
The effectiveness of the blade “knife for wounds” is ensured by its special shape – the tactical knife SCRAMASEAX has an ideal flat cutting edge and a heel that tapers quite sharply to the tip, forming a point. This blade design allows you to cut using the entire length of the cutting edge, and gradually increase the pressure during the deepening of the cut. All the energy is directed to the point of contact regardless of where the cutting edge comes into contact with the material. Despite its threatening appearance, the knife is capable of performing very delicate and precise actions.
Stabbing properties
The tactical knife SCRAMASEAX has sufficiently good penetrating properties when stabbing.
Comfortable handle
The knife handle has a shape that is different from the handles found on BB Knives knives. This unusual solution allows you to hold the knife with a familiar hammer grip, but it will also be comfortable with a fencing grip. The knife fits comfortably in the hand, and the cutting process is very controlled. This handle shape guarantees that the knife is very comfortable to hold in the hand both when cutting and when chopping. Textured ABS plastic scales prevent slippage, making the knife easy to use even with gloves. The scales are attached with screws that can be tightened yourself if necessary. There is a hole for a lanyard on the knife handle.
Reliable sheath
The sheath is made of strong nylon and provides a secure fit and retention of the knife. It is equipped with a loop for convenient attachment to a belt or gear, as well as a MOLLE system. This sheath provides easy access to the knife and allows you to carry it safely during hiking or combat operations.
