Briefly About the Knife

The Bowie knife CHORNOBAY is a tactical survival knife with a classic 5 mm thick Bowie blade. We produce it from 1.4116 stainless steel 5mm, 57 HRC. The blade combines high piercing capability with the mass needed for heavy chopping. Features a durable full-tang with fixed blade, a textured slip-resistant handle, and a MOLLE-compatible nylon sheath. Reliable, functional, and built for extreme field conditions.

History of the Knife

When facing the toughest conditions, the CHORNOBAY knife stands as a dependable partner. It is a sturdy tool that can help you conquer the wilderness. In harsh conditions, the CHORNOBAY knife is indispensable.

We prepared this blade for release in early 2022. Back then, it didn’t have a famous name. We simply called it the "Bowie." But instead of a product launch, we took up arms to defend our city, Kharkiv. While we were fighting for Kharkiv and the region, the invaders were being repeatedly decimated in the now-legendary Chornobaivka.

The name for our new knife came naturally — our Bowie became the CHORNOBAY. Despite the war, we managed to restore our production and launched the series by the end of 2022. Today, the CHORNOBAY knife stands as a symbol of the enemy’s inevitable defeat and our unyielding resilience.

Chornobay Blade Features

Regardless of the extreme environment you find yourself in, the CHORNOBAY survival knife serves as a reliable tool ready to handle any challenge. Despite its substantial size, the knife feels comfortable and well-balanced in hand during use.

We believe that the optimal way to carry this knife is on a belt or a thigh platform.

Please note: since the knife is quite large, we do not recommend mounting it on a plate carrier (chest rig) at chest level. However, the choice of mounting is always yours. Perhaps you are a "wide-built" warrior.

• Extended Handle with ABS Plastic Scales — ensures a comfortable grip; scales are secured with screws and can be tightened manually.
• Functional Pommel — can be used as a glass breaker and features a lanyard hole.
• Two Interchangeable Guards — small (the knife is not classified as a weapon) and large. The small guard is pre-installed, while the large one is stored under the handle scales.
• Reliable Sheath — equipped with a belt loop and MOLLE system compatibility.

The History of the Bowie Knife

The first Bowie knife was made for Jim Bowie, a figure renowned for his knife-fighting skills. This blade shape was widely popular in the U.S. between 1820 and 1870 and became known as the "Bowie blade." The very first Bowie blade looked like this:

Shortly after, Jim Bowie's brother — Rezin Bowie, an engineer and inventor — designed a competition knife for him, which eventually became the legendary design we know today.

Made of 1.4116 stainless steel, 5 mm thick and hardened to 57 HRC, the blade stays sharp for a long time and can be easily sharpened without special tools. It can withstand high and intense loads, making it a reliable companion in demanding situations.

  The knife CHORNOBAY knife is a versatile tool designed to tackle various challenges in the field. Its wide blade shape and sharp pointed edge make it perfect for chopping and clearing forest vegetation, as well as building shelters.

• Two removable bolsters
  The knife comes with a small bolster already attached, and the large one is located on the handle underneath the scales.
• Comfortable handle
  The comfortable and elongated handle provides a secure grip and easy handling. Textured ABS plastic scales offer a reliable grip, and they are securely fastened to the handle with screws, which can be adjusted as needed. The handle’s end serves as a glass breaker and has a hole for a lanyard, adding to its practicality and functionality.

  The CHORNOBAY knife’s durable nylon sheath holds and protects the knife securely. It features a convenient loop for attaching to a belt or gear and is compatible with the MOLLE system. This sheath provides easy access to the knife and safe carrying during hiking or combat operations.
